Community Impact Awards
Often called “The Heart” of East Texas, Texas Forest Country offers an exceptional quality of life that is unsurpassed by any other community in the nation.
While fresh air and natural beauty are major reasons for the attraction of East Texas, it is the people who have helped make this part of the nation what it is today.
Unselfish service, sacrifice and commitment are the characteristics of a handful of local citizens who lead the way.
With this in mind, the annual Community Impact Awards have been established for East Texas –
— to celebrate the values, citizenry, and quality of life unique to our community.
Moved by the need to celebrate East Texas, its values and life, two community-based, non-profit radio stations, 90.9 KSWP and 91.9 KAVX, have founded the East Texas Community Impact Awards in these four categories
•Outstanding Non-Profit Organization of the Year
•Outstanding Volunteer of the Year
•Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year
•Outstanding Business of the Year
Al Ross, V.P. & General Manager L.E.B.F., said, “Many area leaders are excited about this inaugural year of the Community Impact Awards, and they’ve come alongside KSWP and KAVX, serving on the Host Committee, Other Committees or as sponsors.
Who do you know that has had a powerful impact on East Texas? Maybe it’s a non-profit organization, a business or a person who faithfully serves to advance the quality of life in Angelina County or Nacogdoches County. I encourage you to nominate them for one of the Community Impact Awards.”
The winners will be honored at the awards ceremony hosted by KSWP and KAVX radio in the fall of 2011.
Nominations are open through July 15th. An independent selection committee will process the nominations and make the selections for the Fall awards event.
