Protesting God!

November 10, 2016 by Pastor Tim

“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; Dan 2:20-21

I wake this morning seeing protests across America. My thought is a police officer has shot another kid.
I was wrong.

People are protesting the election of Donald Trump. They block the highways creating huge traffic jams and start fires in the middle of streets. These are hateful criminal acts protesting what they call President-elect Trump’s own hate speech.
Does protesting hate with hate make it right?

Not all of the protests are destructive. Many are peaceful, causing no damage or disruptions to transportation.

It is not the man they protest, it is God. Rom 13:1-2 says, “For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God.”

I was not pleased with the election of President Obama. I do not agree with many of the things he has done. But I did not protest by starting fires and blocking the streets. My protest is to vote against him and to speak against the policies that were wrong. I also prayed for eight years for President Obama.
The President was appointed by God to lead our nation for the past eight years.
If Secretary Clinton had been elected I would not have protested but would have prayed.
I often say the Lord gives us what we deserve.

Regardless of who that is, the duty of the Christian to pray for that man or woman that God appoints. You don’t have to agree with their policies and antics but you do have to pray.
