Texas Gov. Greg Abbott plans to tour flood-ravaged areas in East Texas. The communities where swollen rivers displaced tens of thousands of people has also forced closures of a major interstate along the Texas-Louisiana border.
The Texas Governor plans to stop in several communities today including Orange near Beaumont. Orange Mayor Jimmy Sims, said “He has never seen flooding this deep ever.” The flooding has hit the area surrounding Beaumont/Port Arthur/Orange ravaging home and businesses.
Governor Abbott’s office says local offices have report no deaths or serious injuries in the region. Storms ravaged the area with as much as 20 inches of rain over four days last week. Steadily rising waters along rivers prompted evacuations.

The flooding has led to intermittent closures of stretches of Interstate 10, one of the country’s major transportation arteries.
