Clergy Appreciation Month is a special time for you and your church to honor your pastors and pastoral families for their hard work, sacrificial dedication and multiple blessings.
Clergy Appreciation is scheduled in October, but your church may observe it at any time that is convenient.
Pastors and their families provide a unique service.
God entrusted to them one of the most precious of assignments — the spiritual well-being of His flock.
When a pastor becomes ineffective, it endangers the very souls of his or her parishioners. When eternity is in the balance, it should concern everyone.
Pastors and their families live under incredible pressures, with the entire congregation and community watching their every move with the expectation to have ideal families, to be perfect people, always available, to never be down and have all the answers.
Those are unrealistic expectations to place on anyone, yet most are disappointed when a pastor becomes overwhelmed, seems depressed, lets us down or completely burns out.
This is why God instructed us to recognize His servants.
“The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching” (1 Timothy 5:17).
The good news is that you can make a difference! Clergy Appreciation Month is one way to counter the negative erosion in the lives of your spiritual leaders with the positive affirmation they need.
